Christmas at St Aidan’s
Christmas is a special time of year for our church. We celebrate the wonder of Jesus being born as our Emmanuel which means: ‘God with us’. On that first Christmas, God came close to us so that we could come close to God, and so we celebrate the day.

Saturday 7th December, 7pm. Christmas Concert with Coquet Wind Band – music from TV and films along with Christmas favourites.
Monday 9th December, 7.30pm. Carols on the Green – with the Salvation Army band. Meet atthe Netherwhitton Way-Greenfield Road bus stop for Carols, followed by a hot drink and a mince pie!
Sunday 15th December, 4pm. Christingle Service – join us for a family firendly service celebrating Jesus, the Light of the World, coming to us at Christmas.
Thursday 19th December, 6.15pm. Nativity Trail – meet at Great Park Community Centre to walk our star trail and hear the story of the nativity with some special guests. Bring your completed star trail sheet for a reward when we finish at Plaza for Carols with the Salvation Army Band!
Saturday 21st December, 7pm. Festival of Carols and Readings – Join us for a wonderful evening of music and readings, with Colla Voce Chamber Choir and members and friends of The Bewick Orchestra.
Tuesday 24th December, 4.30pm. Family Nativity – a fun family-friendly service telling the story of Jesus’ birth for all ages! Come in costume, or borrow one from us, and join in the nativity as we build the scene together.
Tuesday 24th December, 11.30pm. Midnight Mass – a beautiful, quiet service celebrating the mystery of Christmas as God’s own Son comes to dwell among us, full of grace and truth.
Wednesday 25th December, 9.30am. Christmas Day Communion – our festal day communion, with activities for children during the service, and a chance to celebrate together the day of Jesus’ birth.
